An audio/visual rendition of poems from Nick Flynn’s Blind Huber, the music presentation of Blind Huber is a second collaboration for composer Guy Barash, author Nick Flynn and visual artist Jared Handelsman. In his book, Flynn invites us to consider the intricate geometry of the beehive. Our guide to this new world is Blind Huber, loosely based on the eponymous eighteenth-century beekeeper whose fifty-year obsession uncovered most of what we know today about the hive. Guy Barash derived his structural/textural pallet for this piece from the geometry of the beehive and the sonic environment within and around it. For his video projections, Jared Handelsman has documented a yearlong cycle of honeybees around the Catskill Mountains. The piece will feature Carol Minor (Piano), Christopher Bush (clarinet), Joey Wilgenbusch (voice), Nadav Lev (guitar), Erin Heisel (voice), Kae Reed (percussion), Josh Henderson (violin), Sean Reed (trombone), and Guy Barash (live electronics).
